Our History

In 2002, Márcio Sampaio founded a company by the name of Starcomp Informática, in order to sell Dell computer parts. This company established a contract for Unisys Brasil to outsource Dell computer parts to Starcomp end users.

In 2003 the business had an exponential growth due to sales in Small & Medium Businesses and also the company began to purchase computer parts directly from the local market. This new process allowed Starcomp to sell products to Unisys instead of having Unisys as our third party supplier. Needless to say the company’s revenue of R$2.5 million was more than what was expected for that year.

A few Sales Representatives were hired in that year to work at the Unisys location. At that point, a call center and an e-commerce website were the only tools available for sales.

In the following year the company created its own call center and moved the sales team from Unisys to an office in São Paulo. Still, in 2004, the company opened a distribution center with 30 m² and also hired new employees.

The sales increased at the third quarter of 2004 as a result of a local supply improvement, and because of a new purchase process. From that moment Starcomp started to purchase computer parts directly from Dell in Panama, instead of using Unisys, who was responsible for the supply since 2002.

After that, a new company was created in order to support the continuous growth as well as the importing demand of computer parts directly from Dell. The new company, named ITQ Solutions do Brasil, was created by Márcio Sampaio to replace Starcomp.

In December of 2004, ITQ Solutions do Brasil was qualified to import computer parts. The revenue for this new company achieved the amount of R$4.2 million.

There were a lot of new changes in 2005 for this new company. ITQ started to do business with government and corporations, and it also improved its structure by creating a call center (0800). In that same year there was a growth of 400% in the size of the distribution center, and there was an increase of 60% in the number of employees. The total revenue also had a growth of more than 20%.

On February of 2006, ITQ opened its first international branch office located in Miami (USA). The fact that ITQ became a global company allowed it to improve existing partnerships. ITQ also became the official distributor of Smart Modular memories for the Latin America market. Due to these changes, the company had a revenue growth of 40% at the end of the year.

In 2007, there were some structural changes within the organization in order to gain new IT markets. In June, ITQ started an exclusive partnership with Battery-Biz – the world’s biggest battery and adapter manufacturer – to distribute their products throughout the Brazilian territory. A new partnership with Unisys was built to add a call center focused in the sales of Unisys products and equipment for government and corporate business.

In November of 2007, ITQ developed a partnership with Dell Brasil to distribute desktops, notebooks, servers and storages to the Brazilian government departments. Once again the company’s growth was beyond expected and achieved a total growth of 30%. At the same year, ITQ also established business relationships with Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Canada.

In April, ITQ became a Dell Partner Registered for Brazil, and a Dell Solutions Provider for the United States in September. In June, the company extended the partnership with Battery-Biz to the Latin America. More partnerships have been built since then. For example, a partnership with CommVault, who is a provider of corporate storage and backup solutions, was created in October.

In November, new important partnerships were built. One with HP for the Developer and Solutions Partner Program (DSPP), another with Microsoft for the Microsoft Partner Program, and the last one with Enterasys, which is a provider of network and security solutions.

With the fast growth of the distribution unit that handles Duracell and Hi-Capacity products, ITQ USA incorporated this business unit and created VAP International Company (also headquartered in Miami, USA). The new company named VAP received big investments and it relies on clients and partners, such as, the biggest distributors of IT products in Brazil and the biggest retails in Chile, Argentina and Peru.

ITQ also presents a new brand, a new market strategy, and the implementation of a Network Operation Center (NOC) with a capacity to fulfill 24X7 systems in the entire continent of America.

The company has specialized executives and motivated staff. ITQ promises innovation for the next years as well as an international expansion, a differentiated market focus, and IT solutions.
